100% Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains; very small berries and tight clusters, golden yellow colour, a little brown at times, with amber tones at the moment of ripening. It resists well to drought & poor soils, with a high potential in sugar with a good balance of acidity & a powerful, intense & delicate flavor. It is one of the oldest varieties of the Mediterranean white grapes & considered as the most aromatic grape variety in the world.
Manchuela DO
Manchuela DO is a wine designation in Spain, in between the provinces of Valencia, Cuenca and Teruel, in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha. This region is known for producing wines, particularly reds, from grapes like Bobal, Tempranillo, and Garnacha. The climate in Manchuela tends to be continental, with hot summers and cold winters, which can influence the characteristics of the wines produced there. The designation of origin helps to regulate the production and quality standards of wines from this area.
Climate Conditions
The high altitude of 1100 meters above sea level of the Altolandon vineyards have the ideal conditions for high quality production, giving the wines unique and special characteristics in the world. The wine is born from the grape, but the altitude at which it is grown and the terroir from which it comes are fundamental to the final result.
The higher the altitude, the more and better the solar radiation and thus the greater the thermal amplitude. The higher the altitude, the more tannins. The altitude provides a refreshing effect that increases the acidity indexes thanks to the thermal amplitude which results in a higher accumulation of aromas and flavours.
These climatic conditions mean that during the last months of the gestation period, the grapes ripen slowly and over a long period of time. This results in smaller berries with a higher proportion of skin than pulp, which is essential for red wines, as the tannins are found in the skin.
The wines from these grapes offer great variety of colour, breadth and depth of aromas and great complexity on the palate. They are also much more suitable for ageing in barrels, because the higher the acidity and proportion of tannins, the greater the possibility of obtaining wines for ageing.
Vinification
These Muscat grapes were harvested in October the 10th 2023. The fruit was gently pressed into a stainless steel tank, where it settled for a few days before being racked off its heavy lees. Shortly after being racked off its gross lees, fermentation started. The wine is bottled while still fermenting to capture the carbon dioxide in the bottle.
Petillant naturel is the oldest method of making sparkling wine. It is also known as the méthode ancestral. This winemaking technique involves bottling wine that is still fermenting to trap carbon dioxide gas in the bottle, creating a gentle carbonation. The wine is bottled before primary fermentation is finished, without the addition of secondary yeasts or added sugars. The wine is unfiltered, so the wine is cloudy with some sediment at the bottom of the bottle.
Aromas & Taste
Yellow color, a little cloudy, very aromatic, with great intensity. Nose is floral, reminiscent of white and pink flowers, with a lot of freshness,
subtle scents of honey.
On the palate; orange blossom, citrus fruits such as orange or mandarin, and an explosion of fresh white fruit; dry but with good acidity and freshness; slightly herbaceous notes and a pleasant finish.
Soft, creamy bubbles and a rich mouthfeel provided by the lees, but in bottle it’s balanced by excellent acidity and freshness.
Perfect for aperitifs, poultry, white meat, fish, seafood with sauces, slightly spicy Asian food, Japanese cuisine, pasta with aromatic herbs, vegetarian dishes that include nuts, cured & semi-cured cheeses & great with a good Iberico ham. Certified Organic & Vegan.
Ideal serving temperature 8ºC.
